Skint is an independent film studio founded by British filmmaker Ryan J. Smith, dedicated to telling diverse stories across all genres. Our films have premiered at BAFTA-qualifying festivals, achieved successful releases across major streaming platforms and have gained recognition in trades like British Cinematographer and Film Stories, as well as critical and audience acclaim. Our mantra is "less conversation, more movies".

As a direct-to-streaming studio, we have total control over our productions and distribution. We answer to no one and continually strive to improve each production and release, ensuring we can make quality films that reach as many people as possible. This enables us to make whatever we want, whenever we want, and to cut through all of the outdated industry noise that holds other independent creators back.

Skint's productions cover feature films, documentaries, shorts and music videos. Our most notable releases are Lottery, Talking To Ghosts and Kid, all of which are available across Amazon Prime, Tubi and more. Our recent film Arthur's Empire is slated for a summer 2026 release. We are currently in pre-production on the survival thriller Springer, and have an extensive slate of projects in the works for 2027 and beyond.

Ryan J. Smith grew up making short films and music videos. At age 16, he made a student-level feature film which earned him a place at the MetFilm School Ealing Studios. After graduating film school with over thirteen shorts, two features and a documentary feature under his belt, Ryan founded Skint - a full-house production studio capable of delivering high quality feature films to streamers at a fraction of the cost of traditional productions. Our projects have been hailed by critics as "heartfelt", "striking" and "films we thought only the big studios could make".
