Filmed over a sweltering Dutch summer, Red Light Solo showcases a series of international artists' rise up the Amsterdam jazz ladder. The film features music from The Guy Salamon Sextet, The Amsterdam Funk Orchestra, Laura & Strings, The Valvetronic Brassband, The Yenting Lo Band, Idoko, The Enea Besana Band and The New Arrangements Nonet. The film also marked long-time composing collaborator Alisdair Pickering's first producing credit, for which he won five Best Documentary Feature awards internationally alongside producer/director Ryan J. Smith.
ABOUT THE FILM
Stuck indoors and fretting over his failing business ventures, Douglas Alby (Mitchell Fisher) enlists a remote hacker to plant a bomb in his brother and business rival Franco's (also played by Mitchell Fisher) computer.
Made during the COVID-19 pandemic, The Bull And The Bear was filmed over a series of FaceTime sessions between director Ryan J. Smith and actor Mitchell Fisher. For a fresh take on the "self-tape" format, the filmmakers opted to record actual screen hardware for a dirtier look, whereby the audience may spot smudged fingerprints and individual pixels flickering throughout the movie.
